Plans are in hand to build a 55km highway in Kosovo to link capital Pristina with Skopje, the capital of neighbouring Macedonia.

Plans are in hand to build a 55km highway in Kosovo to link capital Pristina with Skopje, the capital of neighbouring Macedonia. The Kosovo Government has set out the plans for the project, which will be constructed under a concession model, although the start date has yet to be revealed. The value of the project has not so far been announced. Financing for the project has also to be revealed although it is likely that 3287 EU sources will play a role, in addition to some private funding being raised by the winning bidder. Meanwhile the country is already working on a €700 million project to build a motorway between Vermice and Merdare.

    Construction of the 77km-long Merdare-Nis highway in Serbia is to benefit from external financing. A funding package worth €100 million is being supplied by the European Investment Bank (EIB) for the project.
