Komatsu reveals PC240 and PC290 excavators at INTERMAT

Komatsu has revealed two new mid-sized excavators – the PC240LC-10 and PC290LC-10. Komatsu’s Dash 10 excavators are said to bring improved efficiency, lower fuel consumption, better operator comfort and lower operating costs to market. And the two new Dash 10 models include the 26tonne PC240LC-10 and 31.9tonne PC290LC-10.

2300 Komatsu has revealed two new mid-sized excavators – the PC240LC-10 and PC290LC-10.

Komatsu’s Dash 10 excavators are said to bring improved efficiency, lower fuel consumption, better operator comfort and lower operating costs to market.

And the two new Dash 10 models include the 26tonne PC240LC-10 and 31.9tonne PC290LC-10.

The 26tonner gets a 132kW Komatsu SAA6D107E-2 engine certified for Stage IIIB emissions regulations from the use of a hydraulically actuated variable geometry turbocharger, EGR valve and diesel particulate filter.

Expect five per cent more power and up to 10per cent less fuel consumption, said Komatsu, while an auto-deceleration system can reduce fuel use during idle conditions by up to 30%.
A new cab gains strength from a reinforced tubular skeleton framework, while viscous damper mounts keep vibration levels under control.

Viscous damper mounts keep vibration levels under control.  Using a 7in high-resolution LCD monitor brings advanced functionality, including six working modes to match performance to application. The monitor also provides operational guidance, an economy gauge, operational records, detailed fuel consumption history, and rear view camera capability.

And it is an almost identical set of developments on the larger PC290LC-10. It gets more power - 159kW - but shares the PC240LC-10’s engine and its emissions compliant technology.

Both models get a closed centre, load sensing hydraulic system (CLSS), and with variable speed matching technology allows engine revs to automatically adjust based on changes in machine load throughout each working cycle.
