2200 Kobelco is introducing a new series of completely redesigned hydraulic crawler cranes its 60tonne to 250tonne range, featuring energy-saving systems.

On display at INTERMAT 2012 will be the CKE2500G and the CKE800G, with lifting capacities of 250tonnes and 80tonnes respectively.

The G in their names signifies ‘green’ and the new models feature systems to reduce fuel consumption and emissions. The ‘G-Winch’ provides higher speed without raising engine speed. This allows the line to be raised or lowered at its maximum speed when lifting without a load or with a light load. ‘G-Engine’ is designed to improve fuel consumption by 10%. It limits the maximum engine speed to keep the engine within fuel-efficient parameters. Although engine speed is reduced, pump capacity is controlled to maintain maximum winch speed for running or lifting.

Among other changes are a new cab and easier controls including a full-colour touchscreen that also shows camera views. New hydraulics are designed for easy changing from single flow for normal lifting to dual flow for tasks such as clamshell operations. The crane can operate with a reduced counterweight if necessary. There is also an automated swing arrest system for added safety when operating in situations such as near to bridges.
