Key road opportunities are emerging in Russia

Stroytransgaz has won US$124.7 million contract to reconstruct 4.4km of the A-104 Moscow - Dmitrov - Dubna highway. This development comes as the governor of the Orel region (Central FD) has increased the regional road fund . A further $75.33 million has been allocated for highways sector developments in the Magadan region (located in the far east of Russia) during the next two years.

    The Asian Development Bank (ADB) is to loan the Uzbekistan government US$220 million for highway reconstruction projects. The Uzbekistan authorities will use the funds, which will cover 25 years and come with a five-year grace period, to reconstruct sections of the 75km Tashkent – Osh highway. The two-lane asphalt coating will be replaced with a four-lane cement concrete coating.

    Russia's state highways agency AVTODOR has invited bids for construction of another section of the Moscow to St. Petersburg toll motorway. Starting cost of the bid to build the section from kilometre 58-149 is nearly US$1.2 billion. Investors will have to put up front 20% of the accepted bid cost to build the 91km section.     Russia is looking to spend upwards of US$106 billion to improve motorways in Siberia, the Ural Mountains and central Asia by 2030.
