Construction work is now pushing ahead on key highway connections in China's Shaanxi Province. One of the major projects is for a 79km highway that will link Jia County with Yulin in a deal worth some US$826 million. The project is being managed under the build-operate-transfer (BOT) model.

    A series of important new road links in Malaysia are now being built in a project worth some US$107.7 million. The project is being carried out by local contractor WCT Holdings. The deal was awarded to the contractor by the oil company Petronas Refinery and Petrochemical Corp (Petronas). The contract involves the construction of permanent and construction access roads for the Refinery and Petrochemical Integrated Development (RAPID) complex that Petronas is building in Malaysia’s Johor State.

    Austrian firm Geiger International now looks set to commence work on Zimbabwe’s massive highway project. The new highway will run from its border with Zambia in the north of the country to its border with South Africa in the south of Zimbabwe.
