Improvements are planned for the road linking the Mombasa International Airport with the Kisumu-Kakamega-Webuye-Kitale road. A loan worth US$300 million has been approved by the 2332 World Bank.
Work on highway upgrading will commence in Argentina’s Jujuy Province in 2018. In all 93km of the National Routes 34, 66 and IV66 will be improved and upgraded in the project. The World Bank is providing a loan worth US$300 million to pay for the work, which is expected to cost $311 million in all.
A loan worth US$500 million from the World Bank's International Bank for Reconstruction and Development (IBRD) will help improve road connections in India. The funding will be directed towards India's National Highways Inter-connectivity Improvement Project (NHIIP), a programme of works aimed at improving routes in some rural or remote areas of the country. The NHIIP plan involves upgrading around 1,120km of National Highways in some of the country’s the low-income states such as Bihar, Orissa and Rajasthan
The World Bank's board of directors has approved a decision to loan Ukraine US$450 million to finance a project improving the condition and quality of the country’s roads and national road safety. A key element of the project is major repairs to the Kiev - Kharkov highway section between Lubny and Poltava. The World Bank previously provided a $ 400 million loan for earlier stages of the road improvement and highway safety project, which began in 2009.
External funding will pay for maintenance and safety upgrades on Ukraine’s road network. A deal was struck between Ukraine’s state highway agency Ukravtodor and the World Bank for a loan to cover the necessary work. The US$450 million loan will provide the financing required for Ukraine’s Federal programme of road improvements.
