Key investments for major link in Jalisco State, Mexico

An investment of US$ 646 million will improve sections of road in Mexico’s Jalisco State, as well as other links. A 30km road connecting with Tepic will be upgraded, along with 169km of highway and 111km of another road. Mexican firm IDEAL is investing in the links.

Mexico City suffers from amongst the worst traffic congestion in the world and peak time travel is notorious for delays and jams.     Spanish construction firm, OHL, has presented an offer to operate the 56km Guadalajara-Colima motorway in Mexico for 12 years. The motorway is being heavily restructured, with the expansion of its four lanes. The first phase of these works has already been completed and investment to date has totalled US $ 54.81million. A further $ 263.66 million is being invested by Banobras on current works. Offers to operate the Guadalajara-Colima motorway must be presented by mid-September 2012.

  • Mexico to boost budget for road studies in 2018

    Mexico’s Secretariat of Communications and Transport is looking to inject US$84.2 million into the Road Studies and Projects Programme in 2018. The studies are geared towards increasing the efficiency of the national road agency Direccion General de Carreteras to keep projects on budget and improve the record of completion times for new roads and upgrade works.
