The authorities in Vietnam are planning several key infrastructure projects, including the new Cho Chien Bridge and improvements to Provincial Road No15 amongst others. The new Cho Chien Bridge will connect Ben Tre and Vinh Long provinces and this is expected to cost in the region of US$182 million. The project will now be carried out under the PPP model instead of a BOT scheme, which had been envisaged earlier in the planning stage. This change is due to the fact that TLIC will now carry out the project instead of Civil Engineering Construction No8 (Cienco 8). Private investors for the project include Tuan Loc Investment Construction (TLIC), 577, Cienco 4 and Cienco 1. Vietnam’s Ministry of Transport has a series of other road projects in the planning stage and has been evaluating the necessary financing for these. Construction works planned include upgrades to Provincial Road No15, building Elevated Road No1 and No3, work to the Trung Luong-My Thuan-Can Tho Expressway and improvements to Belt Roads No2, No3 and No4. Other projects being considered for a revision of the financing model are the upgrade of National Highway 53 and National Highway 91 and the construction of the Dat Mui-Nam Can section of the Ho Chi Minh Road.
