Key highway link for Italy

Work is to commence shortly in Italy on a major highway construction project worth more than €490 million.

Work is to commence shortly in Italy on a major highway construction project worth more than €490 million. The new 9.5km highway stretch will connect the A15 and A22 highways and will form part of the planned Tyrrhenian-Brennero corridor connecting Italy with Central Europe. Italy's state-controlled road concessionary 1184 ANAS has given the highway operator Autocamionale della Cisa to go ahead with the project.

This last stretch of the S1 expressway will run from Bielsko-Biala to Zwardon and will measure 8.5km long. This new road project forms part of the 2014-2023 National Road Construction Programme.
