A construction consortium comprising French companies has had its contract cancelled by the Kenyan Government. The US$116 million package of works was for the Nairobi-Nakuru-Mau Summit Toll Road project.

The deal was cancelled due to a dispute over service fees that would have applied over a 13-year period. The consortium comprised Vinci Highways, Meridian Infrastructure Africa Fund and Vinci Concessions.

The project involved widening and improving the existing route to dual carriageway status between Rironi and Mau Summit, a distance of 175km. It also included upgrading the 58km section of road connecting Rironi with Naivasha and operating and maintaining the 12.4km stretch linking Rironi with Gitaru.
