Kazan allocated US$263.14mn road repair budget for 2012

Kazan Mayor Ilsur Metshin said authorities would allocate US$263.14million to repair the city’s road network in 2012, compared to a total of $197.66million spent over the previous five years.
A total of US$6.27billion is to be spent on 82 highway schemes in Pakistan. In addition to the schemes, set to be implemented by the National Highway Authority (NHA), a further 14 projects worth $1.03billion are also in the pipeline. Over the next five to seven years, the NHA’s National Trade Corridor (NTC) programme plans to lower transport cost, road fatalities and travelling time.
The UK’s Department for Transport is providing £348 million of funding to help improve local roads over the next four years. This funding will be available for local authorities to bid for, allowing them to work on major maintenance projects, as well as on projects that will ease congestion on the UK’s busiest roads. The authorities in Vietnam have identified the need for major investment in road infrastructure in Ho Chi Minh City. To bring the city’s transport infrastructure up to the necessary standard, some US$4 billion will be required/year over the next 10 years, according to local officials.
The Polish highway authorities are calling for a road budget of e7.57 billion for 2011, and while this will have to be approved by the government, it is some e1.56 billion lower than originally planned.
