Kazan Mayor Ilsur Metshin said authorities would allocate US$263.14million to repair the city’s road network in 2012, compared to a total of $197.66million spent over the previous five years.
An impressive budget worth US$576 million has been set in Saudi Arabia for contracts to build 850km of new road and bridges. The budget was announced by the Transport Ministry of Saudi Arabia and the plan includes new roads in Baha and a deal to build the Haqv-Raith-Jella Al-Hayya road. Abdullah Al-Khodary's Sons will build the Najran-Sharourah-Wadia road while Abdul Aali Al-Ajmi will build the Jeddah-Jazan Road. The authorities in Russian city St Petersburg plan to solve the problem of traffic jams in the city during the next few years. The strategy is expected to be achieved through road building and the improvement of transport connections between different districts in the city.
Implementation of these plans will take place as part of the decree 355 "Of the Strategy of St Petersburg Economic and Social Development
On Aug 1st 2017, it was 10 years since the I-35W Bridge in Minneapolis collapsed. The bridge had been classified as structurally deficient and was undergoing repair at the time. However the repairs focussed on the decking rather than the structure, with the additional weight of the extra asphalt layers and the construction machinery parked adding to the total load and contributing to the collapse.
Jakarta Tollroad Development (JTD) has said it aims to start construction of the six Jakarta inner city toll roads in the middle of next year.
The project, nearly 70km in total and much of it elevated, is at the detailed engineering design stage. The toll roads will connect all five of Jakarta’s municipalities.
The first construction stage involving the Semanan-Sunter-Pulogebang toll road is expected to US$1.20 billion. Total cost for the whole project is estimated at up to $3.2 billion.
