Around 7,000 extra potholes are to be repaired across Staffordshire as part of a €2.5 million (£2.1 million) package of investment in the English county’s roads.
Staffordshire County Council is also drafting in two extra pothole-blitzing machines – in addition to the two already out tackling potholes and improving road surfaces in the county.
The two extra machines use high velocity patching and can tackle stretches of defects and are particularly effective on more rural, less constructed roads.
Milling and paving work has helped restore the road surface on an important stretch of highway in the US state of Oklahoma. The Texas Department of Transportation is poised to give the go-ahead to US$1.27 billion worth of freeway to start this year.
Plans include extensions to Texas 249 and US 290 in order to give Waller County greater access to major freeways and tollways, according to media reports.
The biggest project, which is expected to begin this summer, is the addition of toll lanes to Texas 288, costing $800 million. Work will also be carried out at interchanges between the 288 toll road, Loop 610 and the Sam Hous
