JCB is introducing new hydraulic breakers to meet a range of customer needs. The larger HM870Q, HM1270Q and HM1570Q hydraulic breakers feature stainless steel components in critical areas as well as sealed for life accumulators, both of which boost operating life. Performance has been increased due to improved hydraulics, boosting efficiency and reducing noise while the breakers are said to have high power to weight ratios compared with rival units.

255 JCB is introducing new hydraulic breakers to meet a range of customer needs. The larger HM870Q, HM1270Q and HM1570Q hydraulic breakers feature stainless steel components in critical areas as well as sealed for life accumulators, both of which boost operating life. Performance has been increased due to improved hydraulics, boosting efficiency and reducing noise while the breakers are said to have high power to weight ratios compared with rival units. These larger breaker models suit carriers in the 10-28tonne class and features include a large diameter tool, automatic tool greasing and heavy duty brackets, all of which help increase wear life. There are also four smaller breakers, for carriers weighing 2-12tonnes, which share some of the same features as the larger units.
JCB says its Ecomax Stage 4/Tier 4 Final engine can be engineered into many existing machines without needing additional space by using a ‘one can’ selective catalytic reduction (SCR). According to the company’s chief technology officer, Tim Burnhope, in many cases the mini SCR on the Stage 4/Tier 4 Final Ecomax engine can be positioned in the same space occupied by the exhaust silencer on previous generations. As an extra cost option, the system uses a compaction display that indicates the compaction progress using an LED scale. The system also displays the maximum compaction level achievable and this, said Ammann, will help operators to avoid making unnecessary passes and over-compaction.
