The Italian city of Milan has won the 2014 Transport Achievement Award (TAA) for its ‘Area C’ urban road pricing scheme.
The TAA is awarded annually by the International Transport Forum (ITF) at the OECD, an intergovernmental organisation for the transport sector with 54 member countries.
The award will be presented tomorrow in the presence of ministers from around the world during the opening plenary of their global transport summit organised by the ITF.

Qatar has started construction of a 1.2km cable-stayed bridge that will be the longest in the Gulf state.
The bridge will have 20 pylons and 16 piers to reach the highest point of 30m. It is part of the Sabah Al-Ahmad Corridor project, according to the Public Works Authority of Qatar (Ashgal).
With four lanes in each direction, the bridge will accommodate more than 16,000 vehicles a hour, according to Ashghal engineer Abdullah al-Naiemi. Comnpletion is set for early 2021.

Eurovia Surfacing recently completed resurfacing works on the prestigious Thames Street in the English city of Windsor – home to the UK royal family’s Windsor Castle. Thames Street runs up the side of the castle to the main gate. Resurfacing was carried out as part of the annual programme of work that Eurovia Surfacing undertakes on behalf of the Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead.
