Highways contractor Ringway is nearly finished refreshing more than 300km of road markings for Hertfordshire County Council, north of London, in the United Kingdom. Two road marking crews consisting of two operatives have been working since April and are due to finish this month. They have been working predominantly at night to minimise disruption to the travelling public.

One female Russian biker is taking direct action to prevent drivers from dropping the litter from their vehicles. The woman has posted a series of video clips on the internet, showing her shaming dirty drivers dropping litter in the streets. When she spots a driver dropping rubbish into the roadway, the woman scoops up the discarded detritus and frequently flings it back in the open window of the vehicle, or simply tapes it to the car.
Construction work is restarting on Melbourne’s West Gate tunnel project. Construction of the tolled tunnel link is costing US$5.2 billion (A$6.7 billion). The project is controversial and has met with considerable political opposition in Australia. Those against the link say that building a second river crossing is not necessary and that it will merely increase travel costs for drivers as it will be tolled.
