“IronPlanet’s mobile app provides equipment buyers mobile access to weekly auctions, global inventory and our exclusive IronClad Assurance,” said IronPlanet chairman and CEO Greg Owens.

The free app allows users to find and bid on equipment in IronPlanet auctions from their iPhone or 1223 Android smartphone. Users can search the global inventory by equipment category or auction date from their mobile devices. They can review inspection reports, add items to their ‘watch list’ and place bids. Users can also view live auctions and real-time bidding activity from their phones. The mobile app provides instant alerts to the buyer when they have either won the item or been outbid.

Machines being put up for sale are given a full independent inspection by IronPlanet’s inspectors and the report is available online so that potential buyers have no need to see the machine in person before bidding. The findings of each inspection can be viewed free of charge before a customer bids. Iron Planet offers the IronClad Assurance, guaranteeing the accuracy of the information about the machine’s condition.

The equipment stays with the seller until it has been paid for, with the buyer paying for disassembly and transportation. IronPlanet can also put buyers in contact with transport companies to collect and deliver their purchases.

IronPlanet was launched 11 years ago in the USA and held its first European auction in 2009. It also began hosting auctions in Dubai last year.  Auctions are held twice a month and the number of registered users in Europe has grown to 70,000. Globally, there are 750,000 users.
