1201 IRF Geneva has carried out a successful webinar on World Road Statistics for Beginners - Techniques and Methods. Participants from all over the world joined in to the key messages and techniques from this webinar. This addressed the core characteristics of raw data brought together in the annual World Road Statistics report, which is one of IRF’s flagship projects. Published since 1964, this publication remains the single comprehensive source of data for the international road, traffic and transport sectors. The main questions addressed during the webinar included: Why collecting and analysis data is key; the statistics and econometric techniques to identify and fit road and transport data; modelling methods. Throughout the presentation, simple methodologies, elementary econometric techniques and examples were introduced to help the webinar participants understand the key elements to consider when analysing data. Bespoke equipment supplier Cimolai Technology is exhibiting a model of the equipment it supplied for a Bulgarian bridge project. Construction of the bridge entailed lifting and positioning pre-cast sections weighing up to 260tonnes. Having a long tradition of CG rollers, without central articulation, but with steering on drums, Atlas Copco’s Road Construction Equipment division now launches the Dynapac CG2300 asphalt roller. The roller is 3.95m long and 3m high with an inner turning radius of 3.1m. This means transportation advantages as well as ease of working in restricted areas.
Allu has added three new models to its range of screening buckets. The Allu DL series has been designed for excavators between 4 and 12tonnes and loaders between 2 and 8tonnes. The design of the DL series bucket’s top screen ensures that it won’t clog, even with wet materials, according to the manufacturer. The screening blades and top screens can be changed to vary the size of the end product, which is dependent on the spacing between the combs.
