The International Road Federation (IRF) has announced the winners of the 2011 Global Road Achievement Awards (GRAA) Competition.

RSSThe 713 International Road Federation (IRF) has announced the winners of the 2011 Global Road Achievement Awards (GRAA) Competition. Established in 2000, the GRAA programme publicises innovative, practical, creative, cost saving and sustainable solutions the road community provides to societies and economies. The 2011 awards honour nine projects from eight countries with an unprecedented representation from transitioning economies. Each awarded project leads the way in excellence in its respective area of the road industry. The selection was made by an independent, international panel of judges with expertise in the roadway development industry.

Winners of this year's GRAA will be presented to hundreds of high-level government officials, top executives, and other road industry professionals at IRF's Annual Awards Luncheon being held Tuesday, January 24, 2012 in Washington, DC.

The winners of the 2011 GRAA Competition are:


  • Category: Construction Methodology Winner: 4099 Exergia - Projectos de Engenharia for the project "Road and Bridges Rehabilitation / Huambo-Angola. Project: En120, Road Stretch Rio Keve-Huambo"


  • Category: Design Winner: Municipality of Abu Dhabi City for the project "The Sheikh Zayed Bridge"

   

  • Category: Maintenance Management Winner: 3499 Texas Department of Transportation for the project "TxDOT's Pavement Management Programme"

   

  • Category: Programme Management Winner: Concesionaria Interoceánica Sur Tramos 2 y 3 (IIRSA SUR) for the project "The South Interoceanic Road, a Path of Integration and Development"

   

  • Category: Research Winner: University of Rhode Island, 3536 Rhode Island Department of Transportation & 3540 URI Transportation Centre for the project "Simulating Asphalts on the Molecular Level"

   

  • Category: Traffic Management and ITS Winner: 2698 Delcan Corporation for the project "Hong Kong Route 8 Traffic Control and Surveillance System"

   

  • Category: Safety Winner: The 1493 Louis Berger Group, INC. for the project "Sudan Infrastructure Capacity Building Program: Road Safety Programme"
