ZF cPower CVT development for wheeled loaders eliminates the need for a torque converter
Transmission technology continues to evolve and 2304 ZF’s cPower transmission finally serves up a CVT gearbox (Continuously Variable Transmission) suited to wheeled loader use, eliminating the need for a torque converter.

Using its experience gained in the agricultural tractor sector, where CVT gearboxes have been in use for over 10 years, the cPower transmission uses a blend of hydrostatics and mechanical drives to split power throughout the entire working speed range with the aim of managing and reducing engine revs independently to travel speed.

Cleverly, cPower will automatically adjust engine speed and use only the power it needs to reach and maintain a chosen travel speed. The result can be up to 25% less fuel consumption and up to 20% more operating efficiency as the transmission seamlessly manages travel speeds without any interruption in drive.

The SL50W-3 wheel loader by Shantui has been fitted with planetary power shift transmission and a coxial flow amplification type hydraulic steering system for flexible operation and energy efficiency. Also kitted out with a Dongfeng Cummins engine, the SL50W-3’s is said to have a highly articulated frame for a better turning radius and greater work flexibility. Its automatic bucket-leveling function is said by Shantui to ease operator handling, and its advanced Z-type reverse tipping mechanism with large br

    January 6, 2017
Dana used bauma 2013 to show a hydraulic hybrid concept for use with wheeled loaders, offering the potential to reduce fuel consumption by 20-40%. Called PowerBoost, the system uses high-pressure hydraulic accumulators to store up fluid power that can be released to assist the engine in driving hydraulic pumps and motors. “PowerBoost offers hydraulic power assistance to almost any machine function, to prevent peak loads on the engine during short duty cycles such as loading,” said Donald Remboski, Dana vice

  • INTERMAT launch for tracked pump
    January 6, 2017
The BSC 1409 D from Putzmeister is a self-propelled concrete pump designed specifically for concreting drilled piles on unfinished surfaces. In contrast to using truck-mounted concrete pumps for concreting drilled piles, it does not need supports to be set up each time it changes location. Compared to concreting with a delivery pipe, placement speed with the tracked concrete pump is now said to be considerably higher.
