Called the ES series, the new models also feature TSshield – a Topcon Group innovation using a multi-function telematics-based communication module that locates the instrument. The ES package also gets the longest single-charge battery life in the industry – 36 hours – making it possible to work five full days without recharging.

Italian technology company Outset has introduced two additional on-board weighing systems. The Lanx WL is a wireless control unit designed for use on road-going tipper trucks. It provides a real-time display of the net, gross, trailer and tractor axle weights, with an acoustic alarm to prevent overloading. The Lanx HD is intended for use in rigid dump trucks, and is directly installed in the cab. It displays the weight on board, allowing readings for each axle, and memorise round-trips for later download.
