RTP-300 is 342 Topcon’s new high-speed road surface profiling machine that can collect surface data at speeds up to 65 mph (105 km/h) and creates an exact model of the existing surface.

Data collection is achieved using a Topcon GNSS dual-constellation satellite receiver system, three laser profilers, wheel encoder technology and a comprehensive computer data collection system.

The RTP-300 system can be installed onto any vehicle with a tow hitch, making it a mobile surveying vehicle that generates a higher resolution topography map than conventional surveying methods in a fraction of the time and with superior accuracy.

In addition to producing high-resolution topography maps, the RTP-300 system is capable of producing industry standard reports such as PRI and IRI.

The corrected design data can be used on a paver, profiler or any machine control system to provide exact road data at every step of a construction project. New surfaces can be scanned during construction with data processed for instant reporting, surface verification and ride-ability indexing.

    March 16, 2012
JCB is expanding its range of mini excavators with the launch of the 8026 CTS. The 8026 CTS joins the range alongside the zero tailswing 8025 ZTS in the line-up. The new 2.7tonne machine offers a conventional layout with a trailer-towable transport weight and increased lifting capacity. The 8026 CTS uses a dedicated boom and dipper arm for greater digging and lifting performance. Increased efficiency allows the 8026 CTS to use the same engine family as the 8025 ZTS, with a similar torque output, but with a

Cat’s latest E-series excavator is the 16.7tonne 316E. It replaces the 315D and gets a Cat C4.4 Acert engine to meet EU Stage IIIb emissions. It is the first of three smaller E series being launched by Cat this year. Electric boom regeneration is also available on the new model, and combined with the latest engine technology, gives the company a fuel-saving focus. There is a new cab with lower noise levels – typically a 4dB(a) reduction over its D series predecessor – and improved comfort and visibility too
