Using a combination of hydrostatic and mechanical drives, the technologically advanced three-range transmission can offer up a fuel saving of up to 20% by delivering a stepless speed range from 0-40km/hr without clutches and without interrupting the drive.
Cleverly, the HVT R3 will allow the operator to preset a maximum travel speed, or preselect a fixed engine rpm and use the transmission’s characteristics to keep the engine working at its most fuel-efficient point.
Italian manufacturer Merlo has developed an automatic chassis levelling and stabilisation system for its ROTO range of rotating telescopic handlers. Rather than using individual controls for each stabiliser leg, the operator pushes a button to both level the chassis and stabilise the machine for heavy lifting. This greatly reduces set-up time and increases safety.
Caterpillar says its new Telehandlers - TH336C, TH337C, TH406C and TH407C - feature the company’s C4.4 ACERTTM engines that meet Stage IIIB emissions standard and are available in a 92.6kW (124 hp) or a 106kW (142hp) rating. Liebherr used INTERMAT 2012 to show its new 380 EC-B 16 Litronic flat-top crane. The 380tonne unit tops the 15-model range, which starts from 50tonnes. The new “flagship” can lift loads of up to 3,400kg at its 75m maximum radius. With the Litronic system, the 380 EC-B 16 can provide up to 20% more load lift at the push of a button.
