Indonesia will be the partner country of bauma 2013.

A memorandum of understanding outlining Indonesia’s role as partner country for the Munich, Germany-based construction trade show was signed at last week’s 5431 Conbuild Mining Indonesia event by Djoko Kirmanto, minister of public works of the Republic of Indonesia; Klaus Dittrich, chairman and chief executive of Messe München International; and Walter Hess, the 1331 VDMA (Verband Deutscher Maschinen-und Anlagenbau) special envoy for Indonesia.

The VDMA trade association is coordinating this partnership initiative between Indonesia and bauma ahead of the showpiece event from April 15 to 21, 2013.

On Indonesia’s 688 Bauma 2013 partner country status, Kirmanto said: “Being the partner country of bauma 2013 is a good opportunity for Indonesia to promote itself as a developing market. We expect that bauma as the world's biggest platform could attract new investments for Indonesia's infrastructure and provide new business activities and networks between Indonesian companies and bauma exhibitors.”

Dittrich said Indonesia was the “ideal” partner country for next year’s show.

“Last year alone the construction industry in Indonesia grew by almost 7%,” said Dittrich. “It is the most dynamic sector in the Indonesian economy.”

Hess said that the partnership initiative would strengthen relations between Indonesian companies, government offices, and associations and their German and international counterparts in the construction, building materials and mining industry.

The last bauma, in 2010, attracted 3,256 exhibitors from 53 countries, and over 420,000 visitors from more than 200 nations.
