Indian projects in hand

The Indian states of Rajasthan, Maharashtra and Gujarat will see major expansion of road infrastructure.

The Indian states of Rajasthan, Maharashtra and Gujarat will see major expansion of road infrastructure. In all some 906km of new road stretches will be built in these three states. The work will be financed loans worth US$250 million in deals agreed by 3531 India Infrastructure Finance Company Ltd (IIFCL), the Indian Government and the 943 Asian Development Bank (ADB). The plans form part of the second tranche of the Second India Infrastructure Project Financing Facility. The loan facility is for a total of $700 million and was first agreed in 2009.

    The World Bank and the Indian state of Kerala's Department of Economic Affairs have signed a loan agreement worth US$215.1 million (INR 11.66bn) to finance the second phase of the Kerala State Transport Project (KSTP). In its 2013/2014 budget, Kerala allocated $51.65 million (INR 2.8bn) for the implementation of the second phase of KSTP. In the second phase, about $443.3 million (INR 24.03bn) will be spent to develop 367km of state highways spread over eight corridors built to international standards.

  • Road and bridge projects planned for India’s Gujarat State

    A series of road projects are planned for India’s Gujarat State, with the work including the construction of a major new bridge. In all the work is expected to cost US$913.5 million. One key portion of the planned work is for the widening the 201.3km stretch of the NH-47 highway running from Ahmedabad to Rajkot to six lanes. The 116.2km NH-51 route from Porbandar to Dwarka will be widened to four lanes. A new cable-stayed bridge will be built from Okha to Beyt Dwarka on the NH-51 route.

    The Indian Government has plans to redevelop road infrastructure links in the north east of the country. Planned spending of US$31.1 billion will be used to improve and upgrade the road network in the area by 2019. Plans have been drawn up by India’s National Highways and Infrastructure Development Corp Ltd (NHIDCL) and by the Public Works Department of states.
