India funding links to Myanmar

Funding for new bridges that will improve transport links between Myanmar and neighbouring India will be provided by India. The funding will pay for the construction of 69 highway bridges across Myanmar. The work on the bridges is expected to be completed in the middle of 2019.     Construction work is now underway for the No3 Thanlyin Bridge in Myanmar. The project is costing US$300 million with the work being carried out by a group of Japanese firms. Funding for the project has been provided by a loan facility from Japan. The new bridge will measures 1,928m in length and is being built 125m from the existing No1 Thanlyin Bridge.
