ICUEE-The Demo Expo has launched a new ICUEE Scholarship in partnership with the 6469 Association of Equipment Management Professionals (AEMP) through the AEMP Foundation.

To help alleviate the critical technician shortage facing the heavy equipment industry in the United States, the Foundation offers scholarships to students attending qualified schools with a two-year diesel technician program.

For 2012, the ICUEE (International Construction and Utility Equipment Exposition) Technician Scholarship for US$2,000 went to John R. Kulsa, who is majoring in diesel and heavy equipment at Oklahoma State University Institute of Technology; ICUEE also provided an additional $500 in support of the AEMP Foundation’s general scholarship fund.

AEMP works to foster industry professionalism and growth and to advance the asset management profession and those working in the heavy equipment industry. In addition to scholarships, AEMP offers professional development education opportunities along with three accreditation programs.

“ICUEE showcases the latest product innovations in the utility/construction industry, so we are very aware of the need for qualified technicians with the skills necessary to maintain this sophisticated equipment; AEMP is an industry leader and we are very pleased to support its educational efforts,” said ICUEE show director Sara Truesdale Mooney.

“Properly trained diesel technicians are vital for keeping the equipment in top operating condition; partnering with ICUEE helps us extend the reach of our scholarship program and build the future workforce,” stated Stan Orr, CAE, AEMP president and chief strategy officer.

The next edition of the biennial ICUEE, the International Construction and Utility Equipment Exposition, will be held October 1-3, 2013 at the Kentucky Exposition Center in Louisville, Kentucky. The show will feature the latest equipment, technologies, products and services targeted to utility professionals and utility construction contractors in the electric, telecommunications, cable, sewer/water, and natural gas sectors.

AEMP will again bring a Fleet Management Exhibits Pavilion to the ICUEE show floor with a focus on the latest fleet management software, products and services. And the association is co-locating its popular Asset Management Symposium with ICUEE for the first time. The symposium targets key industry issues that can include equipment finance, telematics, fleet metrics, and Tier 4 engine emissions. Professional certification courses will also be held.
