Hyundai’s HL780-9A wheeled loader among new 9A series models at bauma

The new HL780-9A wheeled loader from Hyundai Heavy Industries (HI) is one of five new 9A series wheeled loaders being exhibited by the South Korean company at bauma. The new HL780-9A wheeled loader from 236 Hyundai Heavy Industries (HI) is one of five new 9A series wheeled loaders being exhibited by the South Korean company at bauma.

Like its fellow Hyundai HI 9A machines, the HL780-9A complies with strict Tier 4 Interim/EU-Stage IIIB standards on engine emissions. Its engine comes with an EGR and diesel particulate filter (DPF). The DPF is automatically and/or manually regenerated, ensuring compliance with all NOx and PM values. Hyundai HI says the high performance DPF filters only need to be cleaned after 5,000 to 6,000 hours in operation.

The HL780-9A, like the other 9A series wheeled loaders, are fitted with various transmission and power modes to allow the operator to customise the switching characteristics, switching points, working speed and hydraulic power to suit the application. The different modes are said by Hyundai HI to ensure the best torque/oil flow for the job. The torque converter lockup is standard from second gear upwards, and the rigid transmission of the converter is said to noticeably reduce fuel consumption, especially for applications which involve a lot of driving.

Hyundai HI says that some of the 9A generation wheeled loaders are fitted with automatic differentials and converter lock up, which further reduces fuel consumption. Lockable differentials are available as an option for various configurations. The HL780-9A model has an automatic lockable differential for the front axle as standard.

John Deere’s K Series wheeled loaders have adopted Tier 4 Final emissions standards through the use of John Deere PowerTech engines. The company has also improved machine durability through the addition of standard axle cooling and filtration, the use of brake retractors and automatic adjusters to prevent wear and cut fuel consumption through brake drag. The K Series utility wheeled loaders also feature a standard five-speed lock-up torque converter transmission that is said to cut fuel use by 5-8%.
