Border crossings between Hungary and Slovakia will be improved and upgraded. The Hungarian Government and Slovakian Government have agreed to construct three new bridges between the two countries. A number of link roads will also be improved.

A new bridge for heavy traffic will be built at Esztergom, with a bridge spanning the Tisza River close to Cierna and the third bridge at Dunakiliti for pedestrians and cyclists. Meanwhile, the existing bridge at Vamosszabadi will be improved.

There are now 40 crossings connecting Hungary and Slovakia, compared with just 22 in the past. The agreement between Hungary and Slovakia also includes work to extend the M2 motorway, as well as building new road sections for Ipolyvece, Zabar and Vamosmikola.
