Huge road project for Russia

A major highway project is planned for Russia’s Krasnodar Region, part of a series of road works for the area. The state-owned firm Avtodor intends to invest US$767.45 million on developing the M4 Don highway in the Krasnodar Region by 2014. Toll roads will extend for some 766km out of the 1,564km of road development works planned for the Krasnodar Region.

    A new bridge project is planned for Izhevsk in Russia. The bridge will span the Kama River and is expected to cost US$438 million to construct. The contractor VTB is one of the firms that will be involved in the construction of the crossing. In addition VTB is also looking to build a bridge spanning the Lena River as well as a section of the high speed highway that will link Russia’s major conurbations of Moscow and St Petersburg.     Funding has been found for a major highway project in India. The Asian Development Bank (ADB) is providing a substantial portion of the US$846 million of financing required for the 800km Visakhapatnam-Chennai Industrial Corridor (VCIC). In all the ADB will provide $631 million in the form of a series of grants and loans, which will be delivered in stages. Meanwhile the Indian Government will provide $215 million. The VCIC itself forms part of the 2,500km East Coast Economic Corridor (ECEC).
