Zaxis-5 excavators incorporate improved hydraulic technology
233 Hitachi Construction Machinery has introduced a hydraulic technology known as TRIAS on its Dash-5 Zaxis excavators from the ZX210LC-5 to the ZX350LC-5.

Developed to reduce fuel consumption, the system uses three hydraulic pumps and a control valve, which efficiently divides the flow from the pumps into each actuator as required.

“Our target for the 20tonne Zaxis-5 model was to reduce fuel consumption by 20%, though we have managed to reduce it by up to 25% in ECO mode,” said Tsuyoshi Nakamura, manager at Hitachi’s Tsuchiura development centre in Japan.

“If they were parts of the human body the pumps would be the heart and the control valve would be the brain. Without the control valve there would be no advantage over the old system.”

Hitachi is introducing a host of Dash-5 Zaxis machines at bauma, from the 14tonne ZX140LC-5 to the giant 85tonne ZX870LCH-5. This larger quarry machine uses Hitachi’s HIOS IIIB hydraulic system. The machine benefits from a 6% rise in productivity in H/P mode compared to the previous model, while swing torque is up by 9%.

Hitachi Construction Machinery (Europe) (HCME) says its new ZW250-5 wheeled loader being unveiled at bauma is the result of feedback from European customers. The model’s cab is said to be more spacious than models from the previous range, because the heated air-suspension seat can slide further back, providing more leg room. The tilting telescopic pop-up steering column has also been repositioned to create additional space. An air conditioning system has been installed that regulates the temperature inside
