HCME is showcasing its five new mini excavator models at bauma 2013
The ZX65USB-5 is one of five new mini excavators from 233 Hitachi Construction Machinery (Europe) (HCME) being unveiled at bauma 2013.

Said by HCME to be designed to have a major impact on earthmoving, utilities, general and road construction projects, its short-tail swing radius enables it to work effectively in confined spaces.

With an operating weight between 6.14tonnes-6.29tonnes, the ZX65USB-5 can be used with a variety of attachments and has been given several new features to enhance its versatility for a wide range of applications. A low-noise stack muffler has been fitted to the rear of the cab for quiet operation, a vital consideration for urban and residential projects. The new model’s auto-shift travelling system is said to automatically reduce the speed of the excavator according to the travel load. This can be useful when the blade is used for landscaping or when the machine is moving up a slope.

The ROPS-compliant cab of the ZX65USB-5 is more spacious than previous Zaxis-3 models. It has a wider seat with an adjustable armrest, expansive legroom, and a larger door and new entrance step for easy access. The new multi-function LCD monitor features user-friendly controls including the ECO or PWR work modes, which can now be selected by the operator at the touch of a button.

Maintenance of the ZX65USB-5 and fellow new Zaxis-5 mini excavators – the ZX33U-5, ZX38U-5, ZX48U-5, and the ZX55U-5 - is said to be easy due to convenient cleaning features and easily accessible parts.

An improved swing radius at the front left corner is said by HCME to have improved the performance of the ZX65USB-5, as it allows the excavator to work even closer to potential obstacles. Meanwhile, the HHH hydraulic system enables combined operations by adjusting the optimal flow rate for the motors and cylinders.

A new Stage IIIA-compliant 34.1kW engine, which adopts an electric governor for constant control of engine speed, regardless of load, is another model feature. The ZX65USB-5 also has an advanced energy-saving system, which combines the ECO mode, auto idle and isochronous control features of the excavator to significantly reduce fuel consumption.

The ZX65USB-5 has a maximum digging reach (with 1.50m) of 6.23m, and a digging depth (with 1.5m arm) of up to 3.77m.
