Hitachi aims for 20-30% growth in five years through mining offer

Hitachi Construction Machinery (Europe) president and chief executive Moriaki Kadoya believes HCME can achieve 20-30% sales revenue growth in the next five years through its wide range of mining-suited machines. The Hitachi Group subsidiary has a vast range of larger machines, including six crawler excavators – the 1200, 1900, 2600, 3600, 5600, and 800tonne 8000 model – which, Kadoya said, leaves HCME in an ideal position to pursue its ambitious growth target.

The construction equipment industry giant also offers a range of mine-application-suited over 200tonne weight rigid dump trucks with AC-drive technology, said by HCME to deliver improved fuel efficiency and lower maintenance costs.

“The emerging market will grow. Therefore the mining market will also grow. We are strong in mining-size excavators,” said Kadoya, who added that HCME’s machine presence in mines in heavy mining countries like China, Russia and Indonesia was already very strong.

A 20-30% sales revenue increase would see HCME achieving annual sales revenues of €8-10billion, said Kadoya. He claims HCME is currently achieving the third highest sales revenue of any OEM, behind 178 Caterpillar and 2300 Komatsu.

“We want to be two-and-a-half in terms of sales revenue and profitability,” said Kadoya. “Cat and Komatsu are ahead of us so we have to make very strong efforts [to get closer to them].”
