New models in the HAMM HD CompactLine
228 Hamm is presenting four newly-developed oscillatory rollers at bauma 2013.

It means that the roller manufacturer is offering this environment-friendly and cost-effective compaction technology not only for medium and heavyweight tandem rollers and compactors, but also for the successful articulated rollers in the HD CompactLine.

The new range includes the Hamm HD 10C VT combi roller, which makes its debut at bauma.

The smallest combi roller in the CompactLine, with a working width of 1.06m and operating weight of 1.5tonnes, comes with permanent all-wheel drive as standard, in common with the tried and tested HD 8 and HD 10C tandem rollers. This distinguishes it from all other compact rollers in this size and gives it outstanding climbing ability in all situations.

Hamm dominates the compact tandem roller market segment worldwide with the HD CompactLine. Now with a total of 16 models, it is the largest model range in the sub-4.5tonne weight category on the market.

The advantage of oscillation is that it achieves a very fast increase in compaction because the drum’s direct tangential thrusting forces into the material to be compacted while remaining constantly in contact with the ground. The combination of continuously acting static load and changing dynamic shear forces in the material bring about a faster, better and more gentle compaction.

With the construction of oscillatory rollers in this weight class, Hamm is responding to the increasing demands for high-quality compaction even in extremely small areas. Oscillation increases compaction speed and quality.Applications can be found in urban centres for example.

Up to now, tandem rollers have only been able to operate in static mode on narrow construction sites. In future, oscillatory rollers will compact dynamically, on account of the fact that oscillatory compaction does not disturb buildings or pipework below the road surface through vibration. At the same time, a better compaction result is achieved faster.

Higher performance is claimed for Komatsu’s Dash 7 version of its well-proven HD785 rigid dump truck, which offers a heaped capacity of 60m3. The 91tonne capacity HD785-7 is matched to Komatsu’s PC1250 and PC2000 excavators, and WA800 and WA900 wheel loaders. The new version of the truck is said to be more powerful than the previous generation machine, with drive from a Komatsu SAA12V140E-3 diesel delivering 1,178kW.

These new machines are in the 6-8tonne weight class and will be followed by other models in the Series 5 line-up towards the end of this year. The machines have been designed around a modular concept and share a number of components and are suited to work in small-medium size projects. They have also been designed so as to offer high manoeuvrability and good visibility for the operator, as w

  • Hamm offers wider oscillation compaction range
    February 23, 2018
Hamm is now offering a wider range of compaction machines featuring oscillation systems than ever before. These are available in a wide array of asphalt (and soil) compaction size classes, with 30 models offered to suit an array of different site requirements. The firm developed its first compactor with oscillation instead of vibration 35 years ago and machines with this feature now account for 25% of production.
