Hamm is adding additional models to its HD+ asphalt compactor range

Hamm is widening its range of HD+ asphalt compactors to no less than 24 machines in all. Nine new models competing in the 7tonne and 8tonne classes are being added to the line-up, and which share the large, high visibility and ergonomic cabs with the existing machines in the HD+ range. Increased compaction productivity with Hamm's sophisticated HD+ series machines

Marketing director Gottfried Beer said, “For us it is important to offer the complete line.”

The new HD+ 70i weighs in at 7tonnes and has drum widths of 1.5m while the 8tonne HD+ 80i has a drum width of 1.68m and both of these versatile units are available as vibratory, oscillatory and combi rollers. The HD+ 80i will also be offered with a split drum. In addition, both machine types will be available in a high frequency version for the US market. Deutz diesels power the HD+ 70i and HD+ 80i rollers and these engines not only comply with Tier 4 Interim/Stage IIIB requirements, but also with the forthcoming Tier 4 Final/Stage IV regulations being phased in from 2014. The four cylinder Deutz diesels deliver 55.4kW and are fitted with diesel oxidation catalysers (DOC) to reduce particulate emissions. The HD+ 90i (85kW), HD+ 110i (85kW) and HD+ 120i (115kW) and HD+ 140i (115kW) compactors are also being launched with Tier 4 Interim/Stage IIIB emission compliant engines.

All rollers in this model series are being factory equipped with the sophisticated Hammtronic machine management system, which optimises performance while minimising fuel consumption by operating the engine in the optimum load range. In addition, the Hammtronic system also ensures even, high-quality compaction through control of the traction and vibration drives. Stepless frequency adjustment is provided and when reversing, the automatic transmission provides graduated acceleration and braking while the crab steering mode offset has been increased by 40% compared to the previous HD 75 model. The HD+ series now features a telematics interface which can be used to transmit data for use in fleet management systems. It can also be used for remote monitoring or for theft protection. Optional rear view cameras boost safety in future and allow the driver to check for the presence of people or obstructions in the area immediately behind the roller at any time. An additional option for the HCQ measurement and documentation system is aimed at US customers and allows the export of data in conformity with the American analysis software “Veda” for comprehensive compaction control in asphalt construction (FDVK Asphalt).

Hamm continues to develop its sophisticated soil compactor range with the addition of models aimed at the 11-16tonne weight classes. These are powered by Tier 4 Interim/Stage IIIB compliant diesels and share the same design concept as well as features and many components with the existing 18-15tonne rollers. The high compaction performance and unobstructed sight lines from the cab of the larger machines have also been carried over into the smaller units.
