Ghana receives highway boost

A World Bank loan worth US$400 million will help complete construction of four key highway links in Ghana. New Highway connections from capital Accra will be completed by the end of this year.

A 2332 World Bank loan worth US$400 million will help complete construction of four key highway links in Ghana. New Highway connections from capital Accra will be completed by the end of this year. The projects include the Accra-Aburi road's Tetteh Quarshie Interchange-Adenta section as well as Accra-Kumasi Highway's Nsawam-Apedwa and Achimota-Ofankor's sections. The World Bank loan will also help with other road projects, according to 2656 Ghana's Ministry of Roads and Highways. Ghana's economy is growing steadily and is one of the best performing in West Africa, with the country benefiting from steady investment in its mining industry. The new highway links will help underpin trade and communications and provide better links to mining areas.
