Germany’s road safety has worsened for the start of 2017

Germany has seen an increase in road deaths during the first six months of 2017. The official figures show more than 1,500 people were killed in road crashes in this time period, an increase of 6.2% from the first six months in 2016. The number of road crashes in Germany also increased by 2.7% to 1.28 million for the first six months of 2017 when compared against the same period in 2016.

Germany has seen an increase in road deaths during the first six months of 2017. The official figures show more than 1,500 people were killed in road crashes in this time period, an increase of 6.2% from the first six months in 2016. The number of road crashes in Germany also increased by 2.7% to 1.28 million for the first six months of 2017 when compared against the same period in 2016. On a positive note though, the number of people injured in crashes dropped slightly by 0.2% to around 183,900. The data was provided by the statistics office 5143 Destatis.

    The UK Government’s annual report on the number of road deaths and injuries shows that 2,222 people were killed in Britain in 2009 while, according to police statistics, 24,690 were seriously injured. However, the real figure is estimated to be closer to 80,000 when data from other sources are taken into account.
