The Australian Government is announcing plans to invest A$24 billion (US$23.73 billion) in transport infrastructure across the country. This will form the second part of the country’s five-year Nation Building Plan (NBP). The investment will be used to improve roads, railways and ports between 2014/2015 and 2018/2019. The Russian Government is considering a significant cut to the existing road building programme for the current year. This is due to a current economic crisis in the country, caused by Western sanctions as well as a collapse in the price of oil and gas.
China’s Sichuan Province is working on a major programme of road development works that will help expand and improve the overall network. Steady financial performance is claimed for the German equipment producers in 2012, according to the manufacturing association VDMA. The German construction equipment and building material machinery industry generated €12.5 billion in turnover during 2012 according to the latest results.
