The German province of Baden- Württemberg has issued a list of 20 ready to be built federal trunk road projects worth a combined US$1.01billion (€800mn).The first five could be started in 2014 and the next five in 2015 or 2016.
A pilot project in Stuttgart suggests how the road construction site of the future may look in Germany. Coming requirements will mean more advanced road paving methods will be utilised.
The Mexican authorities have set out further details on the country’s ongoing infrastructure development plans. Mexico's Transport and Communications Secretariat (SCT) will commence the call for proposals process for highway projects worth a total of US$2.11 billion. The projects include the Paso Express de Cuernavaca, Tuxpan-Tampico highway, Ciudad Obrego by-pass and Barretal by-pass. They also include widening the Tlalpan and Puebla routes. Mexico’s sub-secretary of infrastructure, Raul Murrieta Cummings, has announced that the Mexican Secretariat of Communications and Transport will US$3.3 billion in road infrastructure projects during 2016.
Murrieta indicated that works will be carried out on 20 motorways and 10 federal roads. By the end of the year, SCT expects to complete 40 motorways and 63 federal roads out of a programme of 52 motorways and 80 roads scheduled for the current term.
