The German province of Baden- Württemberg has issued a list of 20 ready to be built federal trunk road projects worth a combined US$1.01billion (€800mn).The first five could be started in 2014 and the next five in 2015 or 2016.
Combined Group Contracting (CGC) of Kuwait has sealed a contract for a significant bridge project to link Subiyah area and Shuwaikh port in Kuwait. The contract was signed with Hyundai Engineering & Construction (Hyundai) of South Korea for building, designing and maintaining the bridge. The Sheikh Jaber al-Ahmad al-Sabah project is to be finished in five years. It has been reported that the overall value of the project is US$2.62 billion (KWD 738mn). The project's 21.5% stake will be held by CGC.
The Laos Government is planning to build a network of six interlinked roads that will cost in the order of US$3.98 billion. The Laos Ministry of Public Works and Transport says that the network will comprise some existing roads that will be upgraded to meet Asean highway standards, as well as new road sections. Global infrastructure services firm AECOM has secured five contracts with Highways England to deliver highway design services across five separate schemes.
The contracts, with a combined worth more of than €29 million to AECOM, are part of Highways England’s Roads Investment Strategy announced in 2014 for maintenance, improvements and upgrades to motorways and major A-class roads.

Cowi has won a contract as owner's engineer for an eight-lane replacement immersed tunnel under the Fraser River near the Pacific coast city of Vancouver. Cowi said it will draw on its experience designing the original four-lane George Massey Tunnel in 1959 and whose removal the engineering firm will later oversee.
