The German province of Baden- Württemberg has issued a list of 20 ready to be built federal trunk road projects worth a combined US$1.01billion (€800mn).The first five could be started in 2014 and the next five in 2015 or 2016.
Positive news comes from equipment auction specialists Ritchie Bros and IronPlanet. Ritchie Bros reports strong performance for its online construction machinery marketplace, EquipmentOne, in the first year since the service was set up. A Finnish contractor has purchased a Hitachi ZX250LC-5 excavator for use on a road construction project in Rovaniemi. The town is the commercial centre of Finland's northernmost province, Lapland, and contactor, Maansiirtoliike Kemppe, is using the excavator for earthmoving on the new Kiveliöntie road.
Russia is setting out its plans for 14 major highway projects. The Moscow Construction Department has announced that the country’s financial issues will not halt current construction projects in the capital. Some US$1.23 billion will be spent on the development of roads in Moscow during 2015. The funds will be spent on building 83km of roads, 23 engineering structures, and 20 cross walks.
