German companies collaborate on roaming platform for electric vehicles

Six German companies - BMW, Bosch, Daimler, EnBW, RWE and Siemens - have come together to form a joint venture to harmonise billing and authentication systems and charging processes for electric vehicles. Six German companies - 1233 BMW, 3405 Bosch, 3992 Daimler, 3993 EnBW, 3994 RWE and 1134 Siemens - have come together to form a joint venture to harmonise billing and authentication systems and charging processes for electric vehicles. Currently, public charging station providers use different, and incompatible authentication and billing systems, so the aim of the JV will be to create a software-based platform open to all EV mobility providers. Apart from supporting different billing systems, the new platform will cross-link different access, charging and service processes, as well as widen the product and service offer in electric mobility.
