German autobahn project

Construction work is due to commence shortly in Germany on the upgrades to the A8 autobahn in the south of the country.

Construction work is due to commence shortly in Germany on the upgrades to the A8 autobahn in the south of the country. The improvements include widening the autobahn to six lanes between Augsburg-West and Neu-Ulm. The project is being carried out under the public private partnership model and the work is due for completion on 30th September 2015. The 41km long autobahn upgrade is expected to cost in the order of €305 million.

The Ministry of Physical Planning works and Transport Management is inviting bidders to show their interest in the construction of the Kathmandu-Nijgadh-Pathlaiya Terai/Madesh Expressway project. This new road link is intended to be offered under a PPP/BOT model. The 76km expressway is expected to cost US$853 million to construct.
