German autobahn project

Construction work is due to commence shortly in Germany on the upgrades to the A8 autobahn in the south of the country.

Construction work is due to commence shortly in Germany on the upgrades to the A8 autobahn in the south of the country. The improvements include widening the autobahn to six lanes between Augsburg-West and Neu-Ulm. The project is being carried out under the public private partnership model and the work is due for completion on 30th September 2015. The 41km long autobahn upgrade is expected to cost in the order of €305 million.

    The refinancing package for Germany’s A8 Autobahn has now been formalised. The section of the A8 runs between Ulm and Augsburg in the south of Germany and is operated by concession firm Pansuevia, a 50:50 partnership between HOCHTIEF and STRABAG. The 58 km section of the A8 between Ulm and Augsburg was opened to traffic on schedule in September 2015 after four years of construction.     STRABAG has increased its stake in the A8 motorway operator PANSUEVIA. This share has been boosted from 50% to 100%. PANSUEVIA operates the autobahn stretch that runs between Ulm and Augsburg in the south of the country. SRABAG purchased the 50% stake in PANSUEVIA that was previously held by HOCHTIEF. As a result, STRABAG is now the 100% owner of the concession company operating the Ulm–Augsburg section of the A8 autobahn. Both parties agreed not to disclose the purchase price however.
