Funding speeds Italian project

Banks funding Italy's new Brescia-Bergamo-Milano (BreBeMi) highway are now giving access to the ?1.91 billion required to complete the work.

Banks funding Italy's new Brescia-Bergamo-Milano (BreBeMi) highway are now giving access to the €1.91 billion required to complete the work. The project management company in control of the BreBeMi link says that the highway will open to traffic at the end of 2012 rather than mid 2013 was originally stated. Finance group 1473 Intesa Sanpaolo says that the BreBeMi highway will generate in excess of €10 billion and create 68,000 new jobs. 1473 Intesa Sanpaolo holds a 40% stake in BreBeMi. Meanwhile the tender for upgrades to the Sassari-Olbia section of highway in Sardinia is opening. The project is worth over €80 million.

    Serbia has managed to reduce the cost of building the Corridor 10 highway by €80 million. These funds will instead be used to pay for upgrades and improvements needed for the second section of the highway project, close to Neradovci. So far some 180km of the Corridor 10 highway has been built over a 40 month time frame. A further 150km of the highway has still to be built.
