The link is required to reduce congestion. Should the upgrade be constructed as intended it will carried out over a 19.6km stretch and will add a lane in either direction. Funding for the upgrade is being considered at present by the C-470 Corridor Coalition. Methods suggested so far to support the 30 year bonds for the work include car registration fees, property taxes and tolls, as well as various combinations of these.
