Final push to finish Vologda bypass in northwest Russia

Construction has started on the final section of the bypass around Vologda, a city of around 305,000 on the Vologda River in northwest Russia. Russian media report that the first three phases of the project have been launched. The total cost of the works is US$219 million.

The road is an alternative link from the hinterland to the south coast and to the proposed Dongo Kundu Port. The 23m-wide bypass would also serve to reduce traffic congestion across the Likoni Channel.
