Fatal crash reduction for Oman

An improvement in road safety is being seen in Oman during the first six months of 2016. According to data from Oman's National Centre for Statistics and Information, 336 people were killed in 2,100 road crashes in first six months of 2016. This is a substantial improvement in road safety compared with the 675 deaths from 6,276 crashes seen in the same period in 2015. An improvement in road safety is being seen in Oman during the first six months of 2016. According to data from Oman's National Centre for Statistics and Information, 336 people were killed in 2,100 road crashes in first six months of 2016. This is a substantial improvement in road safety compared with the 675 deaths from 6,276 crashes seen in the same period in 2015. Concerned at the high rate of crashes in this comparatively small country, the Oman Government has introduced a series of measures to help boost road safety. The measures include much tougher fines for drivers caught using mobile phones at the wheel or driving under the influence of drink or drugs.
