Extensions are planned to the road network in Indonesia’s Papua and West Papua

Indonesia’s Government is building 1,520km of new roads on Papua and West Papua. The work is proving challenging as Papua and West Papua both feature harsh terrain. Some US$154.2 million is being spent on this construction work, according to figures from the Presidential Unit to Accelerate the Development of Papua and West Papua (UP4B). Indonesia’s Government is building 1,520km of new roads on Papua and West Papua. The work is proving challenging as Papua and West Papua both feature harsh terrain. Some US$154.2 million is being spent on this construction work, according to figures from the Presidential Unit to Accelerate the Development of Papua and West Papua (UP4B). Help for the work is being provided by local administrations and Indonesia’s Public Works Ministry.
