The consortium of Eurovia CZ, Stavby mostu, PORR and PORR Bau will construct a 12.6km section of Prague’s D0 outer ring motorway.

The section is between Bechovice and the D1 motorway intersection with the D0.

According to Czech media reports, the consortium offered the lowest price, around €413.24 million (US$457 million) - significantly lower than the estimated price of €595 million ($622 million). There was some concern by the client that the offer might be too long to complete the work to the required standard

However, the decision is yet to be finalised as the appeal period is still running. Nonetheless, the Běchovice to the D1 intersection is one of the key sections of the Prague ring road and work could begin by the end of the year. Construction is expected to take 36 months.

The section will have six lanes and connect the D1, D11 and D5 highways, busy arterial routes for large trucks. According to the state-owned Directorate of Highways and Motorways of the Czech Republic (ŘSD), between 70,000 and 80,000 cars will drive through the section daily by 2030. The average traffic volume on D0 is now around 60,000 vehicles per day, of which freight traffic accounts for up to 40 percent.
